Ramadan Umrah with Family
RAMADAN UMRAH
In The Name Of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful Umrah is known as "minor Hajj” and is a sunnah that a Muslim can perform throughout the year. Except for the last Islamic month (specified for Hajj). Umrah is also a way to strengthen one’s faith and get closer to Allah (The Almighty). Allah (The Almighty) has promised rewards for every good deed. When we perform a good deed during Ramadan we get rewarded 70000x for it and the reward for a good deed in Mecca is 100000x times in normal days. So when you perform a good deed during Ramadan in Mecca you are rewarded 7000000x equivalent. So just imagine the amount of reward you and your family can collect in your Ramadan Umrah! Who would want to miss such an amazing chance for themselves and their family?
Though all the rites of Umrah are performed mainly in Macca Sharif. Visiting Madina Sharif isn’t mandatory during Umrah, but the gracious city of the beloved Prophet Mohammed (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) has its own rewards and it automatically attracts the pilgrims to itself. Besides this fact, who would want their children to miss out on the city of Prophet Mohammad (sallallahu alayhi wasallam).
RAMADAN UMRAH WITH FAMILY- TIPS AS A PARENT
As a parent, or specifically a Muslim parent, we sometimes expect maximum results without even assessing the reality of the situation and this leads to major disappointments at times. Here is where wisdom is essential. It is important for you to slightly lower the bar in terms of your own spiritual achievements and also your children's and rather reflect on the overall objective of this trip. Which is to connect as a family with Allah (The Almighty) in the most blessed place on Earth, and to disconnect from the pleasures and demands of Dunya and reconnect. Refill your spirit with mercy and blessings of Allah Almighty and erase all your sins by repenting and seeking forgiveness from Allah (Sweet).
Travelling with family may seem a little uncomfortable with hands full of carriage and luggage especially if you have younger children. So, here are some tips that you can count on and can be helpful for your journey:
- Expose your children to the most sacred and holy cities, let them make a connection with the Kaaba in Mecca and Masjid-Al-Nabawi in Medina. Let them connect with the grace of the holy city. Realize what it means to be a Muslim and the purpose of life. Let them see people pray and try to do it by themselves too with their own happiness.
- Narrate to them a few Hadiths while sitting in haram shareef, when they can really enjoy the hadith while relating to them in the beautiful surroundings.
- Whilst in Mecca and Medina, try visiting various landmarks, exhibitions and Umrah sites. Explore the cities and entertain yourselves and your children with the beauty and grace of Islam.
- Let the kids run and play around the Masjid (but under your watchful eyes). Let the children find interesting ways to entertain themselves like fixing Quran shelves, bringing small chairs back to the holders, and chasing cats, serving water to the pilgrims (serving a glass of water to a person is equal to praying 2 rakat nafil Namaz sawab) and help the elderly.
- Always ensure that your kid is safe before leaving the hotel room. Though there aren’t any major issues with the toilets in Haram. It is always better to use the washrooms of hotel rooms. In emergency cases, the Haram toilets can be used. Make sure to carry pocket tissues, wipes, and sanitizers.Give your kids some treats every now and then to keep them excited and motivated.
